I have come across some great blog entries in recent days. Check them out:
- Scott Hodge’s post on Simplicity. This is exactly what I have been trying to articulate for months about where we should be in terms of ministry and programs.
- Chris Bell’s post on The Simple Filter. Chris is a member of Scott’s staff, and wrote a follow-up article on how to be sure what we are doing as a church fits into the church’s goals and purpose.
- Gary Lamb’s article – or should I say, “Rant,” for church planters and leaders. I can’t describe it. You just gotta read it. Brace yourself and get ready to have your heart challenged.
I’m feeling a little crummy today. Terrible sore throat and stuff. My good friend, Darrin English (that’s him on the left), is preaching for me tomorrow morning. If you are in the area, you don’t want to miss this meeting. Darrin is the real deal, and a prince of preachers. If I have to load up with cough drops and throat lozenges, and set up a humidifier by my pew, I’m going to be there to hear him!
By the way, I am just amazed at some of these new families that have just begun attending New Life. They are stepping up to serve like crazy! There are some things that we have been working to get done for months, and they have taken ownership of them and gotten them done in a matter of a few days!
Yea, God! Thank you for sending us these quality folks!

The Simple Church idea is probably going to be the cause of getting me fired
I want to simplify our programs… and everyone else seems to want to be the church of everything to everybody
