Great quote my wife came across:
“We sow our thoughts, and we reap our actions; we sow our actions, and we reap our habits; we sow our habits, and we reap our characters; we sow our characters, and we reap our destiny.”

The future of mobile technology. Think Minority Report meets the iPhone… Wowzers!! How cool is this?
And I thought the iPhone was cool!
Some folks have asked me what I thought about the BSG finale. I’ve had to take a few days to process it, but I think I have at last settled upon some opinions.
First off, I love the show, and I am going to miss it. Sure, it’s just a show, and yes, its fiction. Nonetheless, this series is probably the greatest science fiction experience ever to grace the television screen. It was more than entertainment. Like a lot of science fiction, it enabled us to look at our post 9/11 world through different eyes. And after four years, these are characters that many of us care about.
Overall, I liked it. Overall. I have some gripes, but first here is what I did like [SPOILERS AHEAD]:
By the way, did you catch the cameo of Ron Moore (BSG’s creator) at the newsstand in the final scene?
My gripes about the finale have to do with the way many of the loose ends were tied up (or not tied up, as the case may be). The hook on the previews said, “You shall know the truth…” but how much of the truth did we really learn? What did what we learn fit with what we already knew?
More on that tomorrow.
We are preaching a series at New Life entitled “Witnesses.” We as Christians tend to make sharing our faith a complicated and difficult ordeal. But, as this video demonstrates, a simple act of kindness can make a dramatic impact on those who do not believe as we do.
I believe that this is going to be a great Sunday at New Life! We are beginning a new series entitled “Witnesses,” and I am having a blast preparing for it.
Also, my good friend, Dr. Bob Whitesel, will be with us tomorrow to help us position ourselves as a
church for continued growth. Dr. Whitesel was one of my professors at Indiana Wesleyan University, and he is a wealth of wise on growth and management, and he is one of the greatest encouragers I’ve ever known. So he is going to worship with us tomorrow, and then meet with our leadership tomorrow afternoon.
My feelings on church growth continue to change and develop the longer I’m in ministry. Pastoring a megachurch is not as important to me as it once was, because having a large number of attendees does not necessarily mean that lives are being changed. On the other hand, I think that all churches should perpetually grow both spiritually and numerically.
Numbers ARE important. Think about it. Somebody counted 3000 who were born again on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2. Somebody counted how many people were fed with five loaves of bread and two fish. It is important to count, because each number represents one person for whom Christ died! Numbers matter because PEOPLE matter!
That’s why I want New Life to grow. There are literally thousands within a twenty mile radius of our campus who do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Their lives are broken. Their families are broken. They are on a path that will lead them to hell. And for many of them, one witness for Jesus is all that stands between them and an eternity without God.
That is unacceptable.
That is why our church must grow.
I don’t like to talk about politics. It makes me angry. And I don’t want to be lumped in with the radical right, left, middle, or whatever. I think there are problems on all sides, and I vote based upon whether or not I agree with a person’s ideals and policies, as well as believe in their character (which is increasingly difficult to do, by the way).
Having said that, here is a video you need to see. Glenn Beck demonstrates how much money is being printed in our nation right now in order to deal with the current economic crisis. How the boneheads in Washington, er, I mean our prestigious elected officials, cannot see how this is devaluing the dollar and digging our economy’s grave, I cannot fathom.
Whether or not you like Beck, this is not about a personality. It’s about the numbers. See for yourself:
There are a lot of people “prophesying” a lot of things nowadays. Most people are either skeptical of all of it, or foolishly swallow anything that is tagged with “thus saith the Lord.” Nonetheless, there is one person that when he says the Lord is speaking, I take notice to what he says. That man is David Wilkerson. He has a proven track record, both with accuracy and integrity in his words and his life.
Having said that, I encourage you to follow this link to read what Brother Wilkerson prophesies is about to happen. We need to take notice. I believe things are about to become a great deal more difficult, both in our nation and around the world.
Brother Wilkerson also describes some of what is to come in the following video:
Alabama snow in March. Weird. But fun!
We cancelled our church services today and enjoyed some family time out in the snow. Here are a few highlights…
